    Option 1: Construction of a Game

      If you feel comfortable coding, you can choose to create a game.
      Approval is needed for the development of a game.







    Option 2: Construction of an Animated Linear Narrative



Note:

  1. If you choose to create an animated linear narrative for your final project, your main objective is to create an animated story.
  2. The animated story must be created in Wick Editor and should not be less than 30 seconds.
  3. Review the project checklist (see below) before you start the project.
  4. Make sure to save frequently! It's best to save a version of your work every 30 minutes.

Weighted Evaluation

Develop a Linear Narrative Develop a 30 second linear narrative that showcases a story with a sequential beginning, middle, and ending. As you formulate your story, examine your objectives. Consider images and frame-by-frame elements that you can use to enhance your story. Also consider what can be accomplished within the amount of time available for this project.

What to Submit: A brief paragraph outlining your narrative.

Create a Storyboard Sketch your storyboard on paper.
Apply field guides to the storyboard to indicate camera movements.
Explore animation techniques that you can use to reveal the main character in the opening scene of the movie.

What to Submit: A photograph of your storyboard sketches, including panels with arrow guides, details about sounds, and frame locations.

15%

Movie Dimensions You must use a 16:9 dimension for your movie.
Please use a width of 960 and a height of 540.

What to Submit: The movie dimensions will be part of the final animation submission.

Story Images The final movie must feature your own original drawings or hand drawn/painted artwork that has been digitized.
If you choose to use artwork or graphics that are not original, limit them to no more than three elements and cite this work in rolling credits of the movie.
Graphics can be created in any software you choose.


What to Submit: Graphic elements will be part of the final animation submission.

Camera Movements Use zooms, pans, and alpha transitions tell your story.

What to Submit: These elements will be part of the final animation submission.

15%

Frame-by-frame Animation Employ Frame-by-frame animation for at least one animated element of your movie.

What to Submit: This element will be part of the final animation submission.

10%

Project Complexity Points will be given for technical execution and quality.

What to Submit: Brief paragraph describing your strategy for constructing the most complex element(s) in your work.

25%

Sounds Sounds must be used in the final animation.

What to Submit: This element will be part of the final animation submission.

Upload to Canvas

Final Submission
Make sure to verify that you've uploaded all the elements of your final project.
This includes the following:
  • Any text documents containing descriptions of tasks outlined in this table.
  • Upload the storyboard. Simply photograph your sketches with implementation details.
  • Upload the final .wick file.
