Exercise 1 |
In this exercise you will examine a constructed storyboard and then use it as a guide to create an animated linear narrative. Storyboards serve as blueprints for creating an animated narratives. Take a moment to view the animation on the right. See if you can identify the different camera techniques that are being used. These camera techniques are specified in the completed storyboard you'll be exploring. |
Task 1: Explore the Completed Storyboard |
The first step in creating an animated story is to construct a storyboard.
The storyboard process begins by sketching out your scripted story in a collection of graphic panels.
Once the storyboard panels have been sketched, animation requirements are drawn directly on the graphic panels (see red markings) , specifying actions such as zooming in and panning. Finally, build notes are supplied to provide additional guidance. The completed Storyboard is a collection of panels and notes representing small segments that make up the full story. The panels for this lab have already been created, as shown on the right. Examine the 13 storyboard panels. Pay careful attention to the "camera" action words.
