This lab is intended to give you practice with the basics of creating a storyboard.
A storyboard is the blueprint for building an animated narrative.
Storyboards must be well-thought out and detailed.
Quick Notes
- The most important objective in this exercise is to split storyboard building
into two parts: Conceptual Storyboard Design and Final Implementation of the Storyboard.
Once the storyboard has been completed (final implementation),
you can then use it as a blueprint to build your animated narrative.
- Before you can create a storyboard, a scripted narrative must already exist.
The goal of a completed storyboard is to make the narrative come to life.
For this exercise, you will be using the narrative for the
Three Little Pigs, which can be downloaded here.
- Understand camera-action terms like ZOOM, PAUSE, etc.
It is also important to explore how you want your story to be told and make
good camera-action decisions that go into creating a solid narrative.
These are the foundation of good visual storytelling.
- Avoid complicated drawings in your storyboard. For example,
well-drawn stick figures and basic drawings are perfectly suitable for puzzling
out your ideas.
